Yup. Add to this that it's basically always on the left hand side and almost always comes from hesitant passing by either the CBs or the first receiver from the CBs. For a team that is brilliant at fast attacking transitions, it's weird that we seem more https://twitter.com/KierDoyle/status/1324203551866920960
likely to turn them down in games where they're rarer. This problem has been here since van Gaal, so I think either it's a relic of his very slow build up that the players haven't unlearned or it's just the fact that we have so many players who want to receive in the left half
space and turn. Fullbacks can't switch the play. Only Pogba can/does in midfield. We basically just allow oppo to settle into shape very easily by being hesitant early on, and then don't stretch them at all once they're settled. One of those things needs to
change. I think yesterday would have gone differently if Telles played because I think he'd be more proactive when receiving from the CBs. Interested to see if Poch can sort this out, you'd hope so, but I think players will occasionally fall back on these natural tendencies
even after a good coach disrupts them. I mean you'd expect Ole & staff have been working on this for a while, it's blatantly obvious that it's a problem, and we have had periods under Solskjaer where it's looked better. Last night was really tough, though. I am starting to think
that for all the good stuff he's done Solskjaer is just not really able to solve some of our big problems sustainably and consistently. Maybe he/any other coach just needs different players with different tendencies & we'll have to wait to judge Poch until he gets his players.
They may be the same players Ole wanted. I do actually still feel that keeping Solskjaer as a sort of manager/DoF hybrid in the Fergie mould & switching up the coaching staff for fresh tactical ideas is a good way to do this, but maybe that's not how it works anymore &
maybe Ole doesn't have the same avuncular pull as Fergie to the players. Just don't know. The players seem to be on board still, & Solskjaer's vision for where we should be going is still about the most convincing I've heard from anyone. Will be a real shame to see him go, but
can see both sides. If there's a huge, longstanding problem that you're not solving that feels like it should be soluble, maybe it's time. Mustn't forget that there were a lot of big problems he *has* solved though, it's just that lots of them aren't on the playing side.
