did you know the history of the the term independent tropical wales ? 1
so the queen came to cardiff innit and obvs he went down docks. 1 bloke was like "fuck this shite" and he graff'd "INDEPENDANT TROPICAL WALES" on the wall innit. this wall is the wall on bute street southbound towards the train station iirc 2
next thing u know, the Late and Great Mrs Betty Campbell was like "oh, well, this is misspelled, and the queen is coming to town!" she took his can off him, and went over the a with an e

the mispelling and the a over the e is an essential part of this history 3
so it's a grassroots piece of graffiti that has its own unique history and comes from the docks, historically tiger bay, and now butetown and is an essential part of Black Welsh History 4
any depictions of it that corrects the spelling erases this history, which is integral to the story of this piece. it gentrifies it. makes it appropriate/acceptable for the gentry, imho 5/
