A short thread on why Messi is the most underappreciated,if not the most disrespected, footballer of this generation.
1) Messi gets slandered for "possession lost".
He is the best ever playmaker always trying to do something productive with the ball than just meaningless backpass. He orchestrates pretty much every barça attack directly or indirectly.
Understandably he loses the ball more.

2) Messi gets slandered for not a being 'leader'.
Media will only show his sad face when barça concedes a goal or barça lose.
But they won't show Messi when he quietly instructs his teammates on the pitch because Messi doesn't do it to show off in front of camera.

Again, it's Messi we are talking about.He knows when to press,when to run,when to pounce on the opponent.

4) Messi gets slandered for "team failure".
Never i have seen a player who gets blamed as much as Messi for whole team's poor performance despite being's the best player on the pitch for the losing team. It seems as if football becomes an individual sports when Messi lose.
