#1 Business book of all time. 📚

When asked I always recommend...

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

The entire book is amazing, but this part is pure gold.

6 Principles to ‘Make’ People Like You

Ps 2 minute read
1. Become genuinely interested in other people.

Don’t try and impress people. Instead show interest in them.

Our interest in others comes from their interest in us.

The key is to be sincere.
2. Smile

Smiling is the great ice-breaker. It shows you are happy, and that you have a reason to be.

A smile often brings a smile from the other person.

In a sea of frowns that they are used to seeing, a smile is a breath of fresh air.
3. A person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.

Listen, remember it and repeat it.

By remembering someone’s name, you are complimenting them.

You are telling them that they are important to you.
4. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.

Use your eyes to listen, as well as your ears.

Nod and agree when someone says something of value.

People love feeling valued as well as people who listen to them.

It’s unique.
5. Talk in terms of the other person’s interests.

When first meeting someone, find out what interests them.

Lead the conversation that way. Ask genuine questions.

Don’t fall into the trap of talking too much about your own interests or yourself.
6. Make the other person feel important - and do it sincerely.

The key here is to compliment someone, but be genuine.

The magic is when you do it without looking for anything in return.
This book literally changed my life when I first read it.

The longer I have been in business, the more I have realised that relationships are crucial to success.

And being likeable is the most important part of relationships.
