If we want people to stop calling a certain segment of our society racists, tell said segment to stop supporting a racist.

There. It is that simple.

This "try to understand" excuse is crap. People can understand another person and still be called on their support of a racist.

Stop conflating recognizing people for supporting a racist with us not being able to do our jobs as advertising pros. We understand exactly who these people are and what they stand for, and still produce work that speaks to them. Can you say for your work aimed at Black people?

Funny how trying to understand people only extends to White people who voted a certain way. Black people would like to get in on some of that needing to be understood. Oh, some are hurting the feelings of the "poor" supporters of a racist by calling them racists, yet we are dying

Understanding is not accepting/condoning/excusing the actions of others.

Refusing to recognize scientific fact is stupid.
Denying or rebelling against protocols to save us from a virus is stupid.
Treating one group of citizens lesser is racist or misogynist or whatever "ism.'

Your calls for understanding are misplace and disingenuous. You fail to understand those you criticize. Or you would recognize that at no time does any major advertising work show Southerners or middle Americans as they truly are. No. The work shows them better than they are.
