Each of the four web discussions addressed one of the multiple dimensions:
relationship between #gender and #climatechange
relevance of #gender in sustainable #urbanization
#gendered aspects of energy
interrelation between a #justtransition and #genderequality

In the first webinar, gender experts and women leaders discussed the connection between #climatechange, #energy, and #gender and explored best practices of integrating gender into climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Key takeaways:
climate change impacts differently #women&men
women are disproportionately affected by #climatechange
its impact is often hidden
climate change -and #covid- exacerbate existing inequalities
#energyaccess is not reaching everyone

But also:
RE can help #mitigate such negative impacts
improving #access2energy enhances women’s health, well-being, educational & empowerment opportunities, contributing to several #SDGs
women are a driving force for climate-friendly and #cleanenergy agendas

During the second webinar, @FESinAsia @ziyuusan & participants addressed #gendermainstreaming in #sustainableurbanisation and discussed the need of applying a gender lens to the development process from the inception phase.

Discussion:
how #cities can be designed & developed w/ a #gendersensitive lens
whether and how women's needs & roles are integrated in the #urbanisation process
the gender implications of #emobility
#energy divide between rural & urban areas

In the 3rd webinar hosted by @FESinAsia with the support of @ziyuusan, Technical Advisor at @energia_org, participants looked at how #energypoverty & access to #cleanenergy are impacting on #women and #girls.
Supporting women’s access to finance, enhancing their education & business skills, changing discriminatory laws, formalising informal jobs, creating networking opportunities and engaging all stakeholders are all essential steps to boost women’s energy entrepreneurship ( @ziyuusan)
Soma Dutta, Technical Advisor at @energia_org, shared lessons learnt from our Women’s Economic Empowerment Programme. More in our publication on women’s entrepreneurship in the energy sector

The last webinar hosted by @FESinAsia with the support of @ziyuusan, Technical Advisor at @energia_org, shone light on the concept of a #justtransition and what it means to ensure that needs, rights and potentials of all genders are accounted for.
A #justenergytransition represents an #opportunity to address gaps and #inequalities that negatively affect #girls and #women in many spheres and it can only be successful with women’s equal and meaningful participation in the energy sector.
