Neurotypical children behave better too when things are explained to them imo and when you get them to explain why they can't do what you want. Then you can find better solutions together instead of "my way or the highway"

But this takes time and intentionality on the adult's part and there are kids who won't listen to reason. It's a shame though when you deprive most kids of the possibility of conversation/explanation and learning the why behind behaviour just because of the few.
