SL 320/4
Ind 215/3 in 29 overs. CB series, Hobart 2012.
Ind needed 106 from 66 balls (Thanks to bonus point rule, Ind needed to chase the mammoth 320 in 40 overs)
Gambhir (63), who looked set with VK (68) to chase the target..1️⃣
.. within the stipulated 40 overs, was gone due to a mix up. @ImRaina had just joined in & India needed to maintain the momentum that they had while the Delhi duo were batting in the middle. Expecting an on-slaught, @MahelaJay brings in Malinga to slow the run rate down.2️⃣
However, @imVkohli was unwavered. It was as if he was expecting Malinga to come in and bowl. He blasts the 1st ball over midwicket for a 4. Malinga goes for 11(15 including legbye) in the over and Ind juggernaut gets a new gear. @imVkohli and @ImRaina then score..3️⃣
91 runs in just 6.4 overs to finish off an improbable looking task in just 36.4 overs. The 6.4 over onslaught also included 24 run over against Lasith Malinga. @imVkohli scores an unbeaten 133 and thereby announcing the arrival of Kohli the chase master & the ODI run machine. 4️⃣
Post this match, @imVkohli's love for winning increased. His consistency reached record heights as he kept mustering runs. He never loved losing we all knew but these 8 yrs showed his love to take challenge even more. It was like he just wakes up to score 100s5️⃣
In these 8 years, @imVkohli played 166 matches to 8634 runs at an avg of 65, and a SR of 96. Plotting Z scores of avg and sr around their mean values and the conversion rate @imVkohli (3.8) was second to @ABdeVilliers17 (4.2) as shown ⬇️ 6️⃣
The BASRCR value for @ABdeVilliers17 and @imVkohli in the 8 year interval is greater than the scores of @sachin_rt who was at the top across 2 8 yr interval (1988 to 2004) and @amlahash from (2004-12). Ok, was Virat only good post 2012? - Answer is No. As shown in img 3⬇️7️⃣
From period 2004-2012, among players who played more than 50 games @imVkohli's scores where among the top 10 batters in ODI cricket. So was that hunger to win missing earlier in his career or did he not like challenges before 2012? Nope. The image of 2008 Kohli asking..8️⃣
..his troops to keep their nerves calm when India were confirmed winners but had 3 balls to bowl in the match or be it Vengsarkar challenging Kohli to open the innings in Aus when he was playing for the India A team or when India had lost both the openers in a World cup final..9️⃣
..for 32 chasing 275. He showed every single time that he loved challenges, he loved to win and he loved being the unstoppable force. Even as a captain despite lacking tactical nuances or shrewdness of Dhoni, Kohli loves learning from every defeat. He doesn't shy away..🔟
..from changing himself or his team if it means to win a game.

Ok, so he isn't a good test player? Test average of 53 to score 7240 and a conversion rate of 0.5 (which is 3rd best from 2011-2020, behind Younus Khan and M Clarke), easily the best among the current fab 5.1️⃣1️⃣
If the above stat doesn't make you believe he is the best in tests as well then nothing would. However, I did mention him as an ODI run machine bcz for me there is none like @imVkohli in ODIs in this decade and the hobart inngs for me was what Kohli is..A Fearless fighter! 1️⃣2️⃣
