1st day of a new lockdown & for me & other shielders little will change but @MattHancock’s email’s left me in reflective mood. In the 35 years since my sister was born we’ve never spent this long apart - she’s a hospital dr & we’ve had one shoulder squeeze in 9 months. 1/4
I was present for my niece’s birth, they live across the road & before #COVID I saw my niece most days, we’ve not cuddled since 15th March when we last watched #Zog together - 9 months is pretty much 1/4 of her life to date 2/4
The guidance for shielders is badly thought out from a practical point of view, with support workers there’s usually 4 people in my 2-bed flat - sticking 2ms away from each other at home is laughable. But the guidance is also weak from an emotional perspective. 3/4
Of course I want to #survive & be around to cuddle & watch films with my family in the future but the least our government could do is value our life’s enough to make the guidance thorough, workable & accessible 4/4
