When you go to barnes and noble, this is the kind of book in the âreligion and spirituality aisle.â

You know whoâs not featured prominently? James Cone. Delores Williams. Katie Cannon. Prathia Hall Wynn.
When I noticed this, it became clear to me that White people (and people who aspire to Whiteness) have figured something out.
Make things EASY for people. I donât just mean the way itâs written. I mean the ideas. Make ideas EASY.

It is much easier to believe that God is âyour daddy in the skyâ a la Priscilla Shirer than to believe that God equips us to work towards our freedom (a la Prathia Hall Wynn).
It is much easier to believe that âgod has a plan
for your lifeâ a la Paula, than to believe that âthe cross and the Lynching tree interpret each otherâ a la James Cone (bless his memory).
What does the plan
mean for the Stolen?

What does the plan

White Christians have captured MANY Black folksâ imaginations. So many believe on their terms. And thatâs terrible.
Because the Black radical imagination is what gets us free. Black communal dreaming and believing is a fuel.

Iâm not silly enough to say that itâs only Christianity that saves us. Iâm not THAT kind of Christian. But the Black fluid faith of people like Harriet Tubman is worth exploring and revering.
Not just Mother Tubman. But Fannie Lou Hamer. A PREACHER. a SKILLED EXEGETE tbh.
When I first started dreaming up @FishSandwichH , I wanted to build something that felt like home. A resource for MY people. I donât care if it never makes me any money. I donât put stuff behind paywalls there. Everything is open.
Because I believe. I believe that we as Black believers are owed something more useful and sustainable than these folks.
Iâve invested a lot into podcast production, website hosting, time and energy in writing and designing. I take it seriously. Because I want to be a person who honors Black faith (and non-faith because most days Iâm TICKLED at the premise of a good God
).

Itâs worth it to me. I pray the ancestors will be pleased with me. I want to be able to say âI done done what You told me to do.â
