The Rise of Trump and My Love for Him

When Barack Obama was in the run up to election in 2008, there was excitement in Africa. There were prayers for him to win. I still remember that day in 2008. I was 16 years old and already had a strong interest in politics.
The hope for Africa was our economy would grow. We felt unfairly treated by the West and its policies. It were shackles of imperialism and colonialism. A continent so rich but with poverty written on its people's faces. Obama, therefore, was seen as hope!
We had problems of endless wars in countries like the DR Congo with militias funded by the west to easily take our minerals and have a gun market. The insurgence of Boko Haram in Nigeria was at the behest of western funding. Sudan and Somalia remain victims.
We have had problems of control of our economy directly in the Anglophone. France takes 500 billion US dollars from their in form of colony tax. We have problems with unfair debt. For the same loans, we are charged 9-10% bond coupons when a country like Sweeden can take it at 1%.
We have problems with China taking over our continent by striking unfair trade deals with our corrupt leaders, shipping in expatriates that take our jobs, bring in substandard goods, & controls our mines with bonds from massive credit lines. China is the biggest African creditor!
We have problems with how the IMF and world bank is used as a tool for imperialism to cripple our economies and governance systems. They support weak policies. When we try to use policies that can increase our GDPs, strengthen our currencies they bring down such leaders.
The list is endless. So we hoped we would breathe different with a black man at the helm of the most powerful nation on earth. Instead, we got the played. To seek reelection, Obama had to annihilate Libya through NATO. In 2011, when Gadaffi fell, it had the biggest GDP in Africa!
Today, Libya is a weak nation at war. It's not that Obama cared about him being a dictator. They had Mugabe and the likes of Museveni who were dictators but they couldn't raid Zimbabwe because they had no mineral intrest in it, Mugabe also wasnt pushing for a United Africa!
If you will recall Bingu had a great economy going. He was running it in his own terms. But he fell out with Obama. Obama was pushing the rest of the world to accept homosexuality. It was the number one agenda of his tenure. When Bingu made news for opposing it- the US reacted.
This sour relationship extended to the IMF and other countries dumping us off aid. Then 2012 fuel crisis happened. Bingu fell. This is how globalists, the elites, imperialists cripple Africa! They have one agenda: Make money on Africa, keep her poor and stay rich and powerful!
Now in 2015, I didn't know Trump. But he kept popping up on my Facebook. He had walked down the escalator and announced he was running for President. He was a TV star. He said some strong words in his announcement. He instantly captured everyone's attention.
In the Republican party, no one thought he would clinche the nomination. Then he won. And soon he was growing in numbers. The media painted him as a crazy man. I took interest in him in 2015- I saw a post circulating saying he had called Africans lazy who only knew hhaving sex.
I boiled with anger. And so I went on the internet to read on him and see those remarks in detail. They were fake. I followed him on Twitter and began to read on him. This time, the media was awash with posts of digging dirt on Trump from things he did & said 20,30 years before.
He was a billionaire I hadn't known but he had one message for America: America First. We will focus on us not the world, he said. In case you don't know; this was the rise of Trump and perhaps his fall too. A populist had emerged. He was opposing elite globalist liberals!
It threatened the Washington establishment, western globalists whose agendas such as climate change, abortion, homosexuality etc were threatened. The media turned on him. He was a racist, rapist. 20 plus women were paraded on TVs accusing him of harrassment from decades before.
But it wasnt going to stop Trump. He got endorsements from prominent black Americans like Dr Ben Carson and he turned the Republican party into a Trump party. He won! He didnt win because he pandered to white supremacists or racism- he won because he said America First!
He cut African aid. He opposed pumping money into climate change. He scrapped off bad trade deals and made new ones. He made peace with traditional US enemies like NK and Russia. He didn't support any wars on Africa. He started pulling out US troops from the middle east.
This guy became the first US leader in 40 years not to start a war. He had left Africa alone. This to me as a Pan African had a political and economic advantage. Trump wasnt going to give you a million dollars so you can go do a "Musiye Kunyera patchile" project.
He would sit down with you if you had a trade deal. The Kenyan President went to meet Trump and if he had a deal, he got it. But Africa needed a leader who was going to say it as it is on us and leave us alone. We dont need leaders that support our corrupt politicians.
In Trump, regardless of his personality which I always thought of as a showman, entertainer and confidance than what has been said, Africa had an ally, albeit indirectly. Trump wasn't going around imposing the American way of life on the world. And I will always love him!
To end: My love for Trump isnt an opposition to your hatred of him based on the narcissist, racist you see. It is ideological in my interests as a Pan African. This you can challenge but I have a mind that sees opportunity where you see disadvantage. I hope this you can respect!
