This is a significant escalation it would seem but...
Soro’s once firm control over former rebel segments of the army has declined gradually over the past decade. Is he still able to rally enough soldiers to cause significant splits? I am skeptical.
Also, I might be wrong, but his announcing this publicly seems more aimed at pressuring Ouattara rather than an actual call to arms, which he could have done more tactically through his allies in the army.
It is, however, another sign that the opposition is clearly all-in at this point. This is not the kind of statement you can walk back.
