Two // sexual assault
Comfort women were forcefully taken from Korea, Philipines and other countries under Japanese occupation. They became literal sex slaves to Japanese imperialists. Japan still has not apologized for this and their govt refuses to. Don't say comfort idol. https://twitter.com/liiumark/status/1324083418796298241

There is no reason to ever call any idol, especially a female Korean idol a comfort idol. It's demeaning. You do NOT get to say the context is different now when Korean activists are STILL fighting for their apology today and the last surviving comfort women are dying of old age.
You wanna be cute about it, sure call them your emotional support idol. But don't EVER call them a comfort idol.
There are hundreds of thousands of videos on this subject. Here's one from arirang.
There are hundreds of these statues in Korea to honor the comfort women victims. They are cared for by the community. There's so much symbolism here I can't even begin.
God this is so frustrating. I'm a literal linguist and you can't just pretend this huge historical thing doesn't exist to excuse your wish to call them that. Would you wear the rising sun flag if you met your idols? There's historical context just stop it.
There's nothing wrong with finding support and comfort from music and your idols, but phrase it differently. Saying "this idol brings me comfort and joy" is SIGNIFICANTLY different than saying "this is my comfort idol"
