It’s working class Black & brown people delivering victories for the Democratic Party yet people insist that the party is more elitist than the GOP because the whims of the white working class is all that ever matters in people’s class analyses.
Folks never pause to examine why the subset of working class America that has the lowest wages & poorest conditions consistently votes for the party that’s supposedly more elitist. It’s b/c that framing is bogus & this is fundamentally about white identity politics.
The white working class isn’t voting Republican because they’re turned off by elitism in the Dem party. They do it because they understand the GOP is the party working hardest to preserve white rule while the Dem Party is the one that often sides with civil rights.
Everybody engaging in these class first analyses and refusing to acknowledge the inextricable link between race & class in this country is not operating in reality, which is why their takes don’t ever align with the realities we observe.
