I’ve been waiting to tweet out this thread, but here’s an explainer about WHY votes are still being counted in Arizona.

Arizona started counting ballots a couple weeks ago. Which is why there was a huge number counted at 8 pm last night...
The in-person Election Day votes have mostly been counted from my understanding. What does that leave? Dropped off ballots. Dropped off ballots are treated as mail-in ballots. What does that mean? I’ll explain

Every mail-in/drop off ballot is first signature verified...
A minimum of 2 people look at the signature on the envelope to match it to signature on file. Then there’s a final audit. Watchers - one from each party - are in the room watching the process. Then it’s off to ballot verification. There are a lot of different ballots..
In Maricopa County, the ballot is matched to the voter. Again, representatives from both parties are working to ensure this process. If there is a problem, the two party reps confer on voter intent. If the signatures don’t match, attempts are made to contact voter...
Once everything is clear, then it’s time for tabulation. There were a lot of dropped off ballots since the weekend. At Maricopa County, there are 9 tabulators total. 4 of them can tabulate 6-8 thousand ballots an hour. 5 of them can do about 3 thousand ballots an hour...
Re-read what I said. Everything is bipartisan with PARTY APPOINTED PEOPLE working inside the tabulation office. The ballots are verified MULTIPLE TIMES before they can be counted. “Protests” are grossly misinformed. If you don’t believe me, ask @azdemparty or @AZGOP
So, anyways, if you’re reading this, I hope you have a better understanding of the process. #Election2020
