Love Nuzzi, but the data journalism vs. narrative journalism wars are always terrible. They support each other! https://twitter.com/olivianuzzi/status/1324136852425744384
“The polls were bad” is true. The alternative is not, “All the anecdotes I’ve heard point me more in the right direction.”
I’m already seeing folks in the operative class dunk on public polls who know their own polls were just as bad. You know what they’re not going to do? Stop polling.
One reason I like polls (and advocate for putting money behind them) is because operatives want all this information to themselves, then want to act like they know everything and nobody else does.
This brings me to my hottest take, “Horserace journalism can be service journalism,” but I’m too tired to justify it now.
