If you currently vote blue and have in at least one past election voted red, who/what was it that changed things for you? Was it a specific candidate/policy, getting out of your parents house and seeing other worldviews, moving to a more liberal place, etc? I’m curious!
For me, I think it was a perfect storm of both. I turned 18 in ‘03 and voted for GWB in my first election in ‘04. I grew up in a fairly conservative house, was a freshman at A&M, and loved the Rangers (smh @ me but yes I liked the man partially bc of ⚾️)
2008 came along, I had graduated from college, *and* there was a candidate who gave me hope that things could be better and made me realize I should take a long, hard look at the values I held that didn’t seem to line up with the way I had voted in the past. And that was that.
