Not subtweeting anyone specifically here, but some observations on election results in NY.

it’s truly amazing that a number of otherwise smart reporters and observers fall for truly silly spin about an election that isn’t over yet.

A thread...

People can, on the one hand comprehend that D-leaning absentees provide Biden a path to victory once all votes are counted yet parrot claims that somehow Rs had a breakthrough victory in NY even though millions of votes haven’t been counted.

It’s cognitive dissonance.

The votes to be counted heavily favor Dems because the Democrats’ strategy was to bank absentee and early votes. Those absentees are what remain to be counted. Most Republican votes are already counted in NY.

A dozen or more races in both houses remain too close to call.

A few Dems will likely lose seats in Congress and the Legislature and, at the same time, Dems will pick up some seats in the Legislature.

How will that balance out?

WE DON’T KNOW YET BECAUSE THE VOTES HAVEN’T BEEN COUNTED.

Nevertheless it is clear that Democrats will hold at least 100 seats in the Assembly and Democrats have held a State Senate majority in consecutive cycles for the first time in roughly 100 years. Those are undeniable facts.

This was the last gasp of the R’s attempts at a Senate majority. Their *best* case scenario is maybe netting 3 or so seats.

Somehow Ds holding an insurmountable majority in a district map heavily gerrymandered for the Rs is a loss for Ds?

That’s objectively stupid.
