Given the #Elections2020 result, its safe to say the same dynamics are in play in Trump's America, that caused Brexit in the UK; it's not surprising, given both the US & UK embraced neo-liberal politics more than any other countries, thanks to Reagonomics & Thatcherism. 1/7

The problem is, the political elite, in both countries, are so embedded with the philosophy of neoliberalism, they refuse/can't accept there is any other way. They've benefited from the politics of the last 40 years, buffered from the harsh realities of austerity policies. 2/7

They find it hard to understand the dynamics of former manufacturing communities allowed to rot, whose jobs were outsourced, tens of thousands of miles away, in pursuit of profit. People are angry, desperate & striking out against the ruling class, who still aren't listening. 3/7

So, the facists, have filled the void. But, in spite of the last 4 years, which was just a taster of how bad things can get if we dont change the system, many so-called progressives, still seem to think the answer is fascist-light. 4/7

Undoubtedly, most racists voted Brexit/Trump, but it's not that simple; given Trump appears to have garnered a large percentage of Black & Latino votes in Tuesday's election. Until we all face up to the fact our democracies are broken & not designed to work for the many 5/7

We'll continue to get repeats of what has happened over the last 5 years. Corbyn & Sanders had answers, Socialism would redress many of the imbalances in our societies, sadly, the comfortably off, preferred the certainty of barbarians, to the politics of kindness & sharing. 6/7

If Labour & the Democrats, don't face up to the political mistakes they've made, particularly in the last year with their coups against Corbyn & Sanders, the next Johnson & Trump won't be so incompetant at playing authoritarian; by then it might be too late, It may already be.7/7
