I had my 5th CBT therapist session now and it feels like taking massive weights off my shoulders.

I can highly recommend it to work out the bullshit that's in your head. It's like a vacuum cleaner for your brain 🧹🧠
I can't share everything but TL;DR

anxiety about the future that's either unrealistic or come from not taking action

insecurities from the past that linger on which then influence behavior now (and will if not processing them)

and lots of other stuff
A lot of it is (in my case) is journaling thoughts, then discussing with CBT therapist, then going deeper in those thoughts, journaling about those then, then discussing that with CBT therapist next session etc. And it feels like it works cause anxiety is way down
It really feels like again just going to the gym but for your brain and it really feels like it should be standard for everyone at least once a week. Not a friend but a real pro CBT therapist.
Here's an explanation of CBT, it's not like the Freudian bullshit lie on a couch tell me about your mother stuff, it's highly structured analyzing your thoughts and changing them to be more realistic
I do feel like these words are tainted and scare off A LOT of people:
- therapy
- therapist
- mental health

When it's a rly regular activity that should be called:
- gym for your brain
- vacuum cleaner for your brain

or similar
I spoke about it before but I've used work/ambition/success etc for a loooooong ass time to just avoid dealing with my mind, so that's why this year I thought it was about time to go see someone and clean things up. And continue working but on intrinsically fun (new) projects
It's easier to open your laptop and go code and get into flowstate

than to

sit still and listen and write down your anxious thoughts and then discuss them with a stranger
We're monkeys with imperfect brains with fucked up thoughts originating from tens of thousands years of human history and it's no wonder we're like this, we can't cure it but we can improve it
