Sometimes there is a “pink cloud” period once you leave or the malignant narcissist leaves or is forced to do so.
It features a sense of euphoria about having survived and an ability to picture a hopeful future.

There is a tendency to let down one’s guard during this brief period, imagining that moving on might be possible after all and thinking that perhaps all the pathological abuse one endured was an exaggeration of one’s own mind.

However, during this time while the malignant narcissist is wearing their agreeable mask again, they are also planning how to destroy their target to the point of literal scorched earth.
I believe it’s likely we are entering or are about to enter this brief pink cloud period.
