As a former fundamentalist evangelical raised to only vote Republican, I can tell you right now, Democrats will never get the religious right to vote for them.

Remember, as the NYT goes looking for more conservatives in diners in the coming weeks, as people once again start talking about getting those votes for dems.

Even if you got conservative religious people to vote against POTUS because he is terrible, I guarantee you they probably voted for the GOP lawmakers.

They are terrified America will be judged by God, so they do care very much about social policy and legalizing thing they consider “sins”, even if it doesn’t affect them.

They don’t care about covid deaths because they value the afterlife more than this one (when it’s convenient), and think everyone should do the same.

And the kicker? They are, for various prophetic reasons, TERRIFIED of the possibility of one world government.
Anything that gives government more power in their eyes is a slippery slope.

These things may sound unbelievable but they are real, and evangelicals have believed them and taught their children to believe them for over 50 years.
You can’t budge that. All you can do it work around it. Draw out the ones on the edges, but the core will never move.

Churches are the most segregated places in America, and white evangelicals have a serious white supremacy problem, bolstered by historical revisionism and plain old racism.
Fight white supremacy wherever you find it, and you’ll chip away at their foothold.
