For anyone buying into the story that Biden's vote count in MI jumped by 138k, this thread is for you. Spoiler alert, the claim is bullshit. https://twitter.com/ariehkovler/status/1324020322622971913
There are so many false, misleading claims being made by @realDonaldTrump @GOPChairwoman and trolls like @charliekirk11, @seanhannity and @marklevinshow, that it seems worthwhile to write a thread to debunk some, even if no one will see it. 1/
Claim 1. "A block of 138k votes entered for MI were 100% Biden, no Trump votes, statistically impossible!" Yes, it is impossible and it did not happen. The short version: a 3rd rate election tracker that no one had ever heard of mis-keyed a county by adding 0 on the end... 2/
entering 153k instead of 15k, at the same time they entered Trump votes. They later corrected, removing the difference of 138k. The screenshots circulating are being viewed in the wrong order, Biden didn't jump by 138k, he dropped. @ariehkovler has a great thread on it... 3/
Claim 2: AZ forced people to use sharpies in Trump favored precincts to invalidate their vote... Ummm... No. From @SecretaryHobbs 4/ https://twitter.com/SecretaryHobbs/status/1324074443740647425?s=20
And from @MaricopaVote. They posted about Sharpie use before this conspiracy crap even started. 5/ https://twitter.com/MaricopaVote/status/1323728961231233025?s=20
Claim 3: "Dems in Detroit blocked Republican "poll watchers" from making sure the votes were counted correctly"... Not true. A bunch of randos showed up demanding to be let in to the counting location and tried storming the building...6/
They were outside chanting "stop the vote". Some were let in, equal number of dem and republican but they were at capacity. Members of both parties were told they had to wait for people to leave. Dems waited calmly and quietly, Republicans threw a fit...7/
Claim 4: "They keep finding more votes in Philly/Detroit/name a city". No. They are counting legally cast absentee/by mail ballots. Various news outlets reported MI and PA would not start counting these until 11/3 or, in some counties, 11/4. 9/
If you are concerned, compare the vote count in 2020 to 2016. Philadelphia County is at ~570k votes as of now w/70% reporting (which loosely translates to 800k total). In 2016 that county had ~682k votes cast. Turnout is higher so an increase of ~15% is reasonable. 10/
People working at polls represent both parties and are volunteering their time AND personal safety/health during a pandemic to the benefit of all of us. Stop belittling them, accusing them of being dishonest, or complaining they are taking too long. 11/
If you have a problem with the job they are doing, feel free go through the training and volunteer for the next election otherwise, STFU. All of this conspiracy BS just undermines our elections. STOP. 12/12
