The gov't’s "New National Restrictions from 5 November" tell universities to “consider moving to increased levels of online learning where possible” & students to “not move back and forward between their permanent & student home in term time”.

We urge universities to treat the govt’s recommendation to “move to increased levels of online learning” as a mandate to accept previous #IndieSAGE & SAGE scientific advice.

And give students the choice to return home within term-time from NOW and continue learning at home.
Online learning unlocks other strategies to reduce transmission of #COVID19 and there are many ramifications moving online (with exceptions listed in SAGE and #IndieSAGE reports).
The government must make financial provision for universities to make decisions that are consistent with SAGE and its own advice.
