THREAD: Initial look at how the GOP and DEM coalitions change in #NCPOL since the last presidential election.

These three maps show the political realignment of the past decade continuing in 2020. 1/4
Trump generally increased his vote share in #NCPOL's rural areas, maintained his vote share in urban areas, and lost ground in suburban areas. 2/4
Biden grew Clinton's 2016 vote share in #NCPOL's urban and suburban areas. He lost vote share relative to Clinton '16 in rural areas with large minority populations, and maintained or slightly increased Clinton's vote share in predominantly white rural areas. 3/4
Statewide, Trump essentially repeated his '16 performance by offsetting losses in suburbia with higher margins in rural, high-minority counties. Biden improved over Clinton's '16 margin in suburban areas, and won voters who cast ballots for 3rd Party candidates in '16. 4/4 #NCPOL
