the best way to conceptualize the parties may not be left vs right (they are both right wing) rich vs poor (they both draw from multiple income classes) or even white vs non-white
the best way to make sense of where they're heading is industrial vs post-industrial

the republicans attract traditional industrial workers, just not the way old school democrats used to - by promising top down industrial expansion which will put their now rarified skillsets into higher demand
as opposed to democrats, who always promised to protect those workers through strong unions
the industrial working class is in a far better position than service workers

I think this explains a lot of why you see black and Latino men voting for Trump - because for many men of color, these industrial style, blue collar jobs are the way they get out of a trap of poverty in low paid service work. And they begin to resemble their white peers
whereas the path for WOC is more typically through the professional route, which keeps them in the Democratic fold regardless of income situation
another way of saying that is that I dont think that the parties are racialized - the labor market is, and the labor market informs party affiliation
