As a CEO, how you show up for your team during an election cycle matters. Here’s how I think about my role during this time and how I’m communicating at @okta ⬇️
It starts early. In September we rolled out the http://Vote.gov  app in the @okta Integration Network, encouraged employees to take volunteer time off on and leading up to Election Day, and donated more than $75k to voting rights organizations through #OktaforGood.
The key message I’ve tried to communicate internally: VOTE, VOTE, VOTE. I’m a broken record on this, but 90+ million eligible voters didn’t participate in 2016 and that’s a problem. Whatever your political leanings, your vote matters and your vote counts.
This matters! Some CEOs don’t want to “bring politics to work” but I encourage employees to bring their whole selves to work. Everyone has political beliefs: I have mine, and I respect those of our employees, customers and partners. The key is to show respect even if we disagree.
It’s the day after election day and we’re still working towards an outcome, but that’s OK! Nearly 160 million Americans voted in this year’s presidential election. Democracy works best when we all get involved. Every vote needs to get counted. Stay patient and stay engaged.
