like, Ds won popular vote in 7 out of the last 8 elections. "why aren't they more popular" is not a super thoughtful question. "why do they keep losing even though they are popular" is a more pertinent one, which we all know the answer to, but sometimes conveniently forget.
House and Senate are tilted against Ds too. we have one popular party and one minority party that stays in the game through vote suppression and structural flaws in our democracy.
then pundits excoriate the popular party for not being as popular as the minoritarian party, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
