Alright, time for a 2020 elections issues thread. This is a troubling report from the Georgia GOP. https://twitter.com/DavidShafer/status/1324064059214495749

Last night saw videos alleging workers in some AZ precincts insisted voters use sharpies rather than ballpoint pens. Machines can't read sharpie ink.

Terminally earnest former TimCast IRL staffer Adam Crigler voted in AZ & says he was given a sharpie. https://twitter.com/AdamCrigler/status/1324037101571108864?s=20
Video alleging sharpie-based voter fraud in Arizona https://twitter.com/iheartmindy/status/1324052651584049152?s=20
BUT Maricopa County (AZ) video clarifies sharpies are fine to use there because of how they format their ballots.

The Arizona sharpie issue may be a nothingburger. Expect GOP will investigate thoroughly. https://twitter.com/a_marconi_/status/1324083644676272129?s=20
Odd video from Michigan shows a lone individual allegedly moving large quantities of ballots in the middle of the night without zero security oversight or partisan ballot count observers present https://twitter.com/scrowder/status/1324085083138117636?s=20
In Detroit today. AFAIK GOP is well-represented with/by ballot count legal observers inside the room. https://twitter.com/MattFinnFNC/status/1324084637010976769?s=20
If we can address the issues & concerns that spring up in various specific locales around this election *without* this sort of activity, that'd be helpful https://twitter.com/PattersonNBC/status/1324086177885003778?s=20

In other news, RadLeft rioters are getting an early start tonight on Night 160 of #PortlandRiots.

MICHIGAN RESULTS - can anybody explain the massive discrepancy between MI Secretary of State's count as of 8:14 PM CT & AP's reported results?

MI currently has Trump leading by 222,000 votes with a far lower count than AP - 1.2 mil lower, in fact

https://mielections.us/election/results/2020GEN_CENR.html
Welp https://twitter.com/freep/status/1323893572433858560?s=20
9:37 PM CT update from MI SOS

Similar issues are seen with MI SOS vs AP counts on the US Senate race, which AP just called for the Dem incumbent. AP's total is 850k higher than MI SOS is reporting so far
Maybe the MI SOS's office has simply collapsed into incompetence when it comes to updating their site. If so, that seems of public interest. Either way, it's 🤨
In other news, now that the Presidential election is all done but the counting, observing, litigating, & possible recounting, @OregonGovBrown suddenly actually cares about public disorder on her largest city's streets https://twitter.com/MultCoSO/status/1324184110584135680?s=20
Wherein a member of the United States House of Representatives pretends as if ballot count observers haven't been utilized by BOTH parties in any competitive race run in the past however many decades. https://twitter.com/IlhanMN/status/1323897071099809796?s=20
Re disorder in Detroit earlier - looks like both Ds & Rs exceeded their legal limits on poll challengers (observers), so staff barred & locked out new additions, then they started agitating to be let in. May have been bipartisan. https://twitter.com/JulieBorowski/status/1324205732384956417?s=20
Re part of MICHIGAN totals discrepancies between AP & MI Sec of State's site: SOS is not yet reporting data for Wayne County, home to Detroit. That accounts for about 830k of the difference in totals.

https://www.waynecounty.com/elected/clerk/election-results.aspx
Some conservatives think DHS had absentee ballots specially printed to make them counterfeit-proof, but ballots are usually produced (or their production contracted) by county officials.

Oh my https://twitter.com/fleccas/status/1324216584219623424?s=20
I went & tried for myself - the system confirmed he's registered 🤔

So there's at least some verifiable fraud occurring in Michigan
Some interesting data points in this story. WI has same-day voter registration - voters can reg at the polls. I suspect story's voter reg totals weren't updated with same-days.

But NB those 5 wards producing 69.8% more votes than in 2016. 🤔

Re sharpies in Arizona - assurances from Maricopa & Pima counties that they're fine. Sharpies were preferred in Maricopa County bc the ink dries faster & is less likely to mess up the machine https://twitter.com/azcentral/status/1324083534286315520?s=20
https://twitter.com/michaeldsee/status/1324238739493646336?s=20
Seeing tweets claiming Trump supporters demonstrating at Maricopa Co AZ ballot counting center got out of hand & hostile, but I'm looking & not finding actual video evidence of it. Only video I've found *of them* so far is this https://twitter.com/RealKyleMorris/status/1324229028669202432?s=20
This is a mess - I don't know how ballot count observers could possibly observe much of anything from that distance.

Not terribly surprised that Philly isn't being a bastion of transparency, openness, & accountability tho https://twitter.com/RyanGirdusky/status/1324179965169049601?s=20
Looks like Maricopa's new count finally hit AP

Arizona has tightened up a bit more. Trump picked up ~35k & Biden picked up ~25k.
Arizona did seem like a premature call. https://twitter.com/Cernovich/status/1324255027683188736?s=20
Excellent thread https://twitter.com/KimStrassel/status/1324207542151475201?s=20
This is another caution flag. I don't care what Philadelphia was doing with ballot count, the odds of every single one in a batch of 23k+ going only to Biden are impossibly microscopic. https://twitter.com/Cernovich/status/1324253183082786816?s=20
That's an interesting little rabbit hole. https://twitter.com/michellemalkin/status/1324148730816131072?s=20
MICHIGAN: Detroit ABC affiliate says vid of man at the ballot counting center in early morning of 11/4, unloading large cases from a van & taking them in, was of a station photographer transporting media equipment for that day's coverage. https://twitter.com/rossjonesWXYZ/status/1324213924250660869?s=20
A little pre-election thread about possible things to watch for as count & election contestation continues https://twitter.com/SelinaDavis73/status/1319343176012890113?s=20
Dem-Left messaging machine has decided to portray all Trump campaign objections as not just unfounded, but as a ludicrous pretense for politically-convenient maneuvers that they're too dumb to even strategize properly. https://twitter.com/RyanGirdusky/status/1324441918147801090?s=20
TEXAS This cd be a case of an individual bad actor. Or it cd be an indicator of a larger, concerted fraud effort. TX isn't "in play," but protecting integrity of every state's elections is paramount to maintaining public confidence in our system of govt https://twitter.com/KenWebsterII/status/1324376486271438852?s=20
PENNSYLVANIA now says they have 369k ballots remaining to count. PA is in midst of court battle over validity of absentee ballots received after election day.

PA Supreme Ct ordered the extension back in September in response to Democratic litigation https://twitter.com/TrumpJew/status/1324428572719747072?s=20
I especially enjoy how Dems are spinning the PA case as an incident of GOP "meddling" & attacking long-standing PA elections law.

They're not.

Dems were the ones who effectively got the law modified by constitutionally-questionable means just 2.5 months before the election.
PA Dems are also STRONGLY fighting against allowing GOP count observers to have access. Local officials in Philly have been v shady & are still refusing to comply with court orders directing them to allow GOP observers' legally-protected right to observe https://twitter.com/MauraBarrettNBC/status/1324390877276549120?s=20
BTW, the idea that a flipping live-stream does a damn thing for ballot count observers is farcical. You can't closely observe ballot counters' activities & note specific ballots &/or practices deserving legal challenge using a macro-level live feed.
PA Alleghany Co (Pittsburgh) will hand-count some absentees tmrw due to issues. Vendor accidentally sent wrong ballots to some voters, then sent correct ones - 29k involved. They're hand-inspecting to ID accidentally-voted wrong ballots.

Good thread https://twitter.com/CPotterPgh/status/1324392412651933702?s=20
Chris's thread doesn't indicate how they're planning on dealing with these. I suspect they'll hand-duplicate accidental wrong ballots so votes in races they were entitled to vote in get counted while votes for down-ballot contests they weren't entitled to vote in get eliminated.
Polling this year has been beyond terrible. https://twitter.com/SeanTrende/status/1324432082286878720?s=20
PA-PHILLY

Vid of a registered Dem observer detailing Philly count center's actions today. They continued refusing to comply with the court order directing them to allow observers to do their jobs, which is why GOP went back to court to temp halt count.

https://twitter.com/phillygodfather/status/1324423447158661120?s=20
REMINDER: PA stopped ballot counting in Philly in part today bc DEMOCRATS want to force GOP observers out entirely.

Yet Twitter is marking a video detailing allegations that elections staff are still depriving observers of legal rights as "disputed."
This massive thread "debunking" elections irregularity claims is plagued with errors & failure to subject officials' defenses to even modest scrutiny.

Ex: How exactly is SOS purging ballots cast by long-deceased if those folks are listed on voter rolls? https://twitter.com/Ike_Saul/status/1324437156295811073?s=20
This "balance" claim sounds incorrect.

A party's state-mandated legal right to have poll challengers present to observe ballot counting isn't - & can't be - contingent on the other party having equal desire to engage in that activity. https://twitter.com/Ike_Saul/status/1324436478550810624?s=20
PA
Frmr newsman confirms reports several deceased individuals received PA ballots, one "registered" to vote 5 days after death.

NB: some of these may have been "permanent absentee" voters.

I'm unclear on whether ballots were cast on behalf of all 13.

https://twitter.com/adamhousley/status/1324474460125061121?s=20
Remember how the FBI & DHS & much of Dem-aligned media have all repeatedly warned that foreign actors have been engaging in all sorts of activities in an attempt to interfere in our election?

Why would anybody assume that couldn't come in the form of a mass fraud operation?
Was just listening to Steve Bannon's WRP Ep 478 livestream on YouTube when it was suddenly yanked. 🤔

I'm disinclined to believe every claim they make, but they're some of the main folks identifying & daylighting potential irregularities, which can then be examined more closely
I was v involved in Dem politics in CA, WA, & ID a couple decades & worked on several campaigns.

Campaign ethics are often extremely loose, to put it mildly.

Beyond who wins or loses, we must protect integrity of this election to avoid further erosion of trust in our system
Reassuring piece from Vice indicating that USPS facilities did actually perform court-ordered sweeps on election day in order to ensure that every ballot received in facilities were delivered to county elections staff on time. https://twitter.com/Ike_Saul/status/1324438874584764422?s=20
MI
This purports to debunk the dead voter claim. Problem: voter reg system lets you to look up voter records by name *& birth year.*

That system isn't conflating long-dead with people 40-60 yrs younger than them. https://twitter.com/Ike_Saul/status/1324494201476833282?s=20
Also, who's behind Logically?

I wouldn't assume they're disinterested truth-seekers. A number of Dem operatives launched multiple entities devoted to "combatting fake news & misinformation" in the past year or so.

(I esp wdn't assume it given how weak their debunking was)
NEVADA

NV GOP alleges they've identified 3k+ cases of fraudulent voting so far https://twitter.com/CBS_Herridge/status/1324516999796559877?s=20
GA: as in PA & WI, Dems created some of this mess by getting courts to issue orders contrary to longstanding laws* dictating ballots must be received by e-day to count. Those actions & orders were constitutionally dubious.

*produced thru lege process https://twitter.com/ZoeTillman/status/1324369520442658817?s=20
PA: st appeals court strikes down Sec of State policy change that attempted to overrule st law & extend voters' deadline to furnish ID.

Despite what Ds & allied media say, Team Trump isn't just pursuing frivolous claims. There are legitimate issues here. https://twitter.com/carriesheffield/status/1324495136882106370?s=20
MI CORRECTION: have since seen many claims Detroit illegally prevented GOP poll challengers from observing ballot processing. Claims were raised in court today but judge ruled them moot bc counting was already complete. Will see if higher cts address https://twitter.com/SelinaDavis73/status/1324209205922783232?s=20

PA ballot duplication procedure: https://twitter.com/AGHamilton29/status/1324573613039767553?s=20
My current read: There have been irregularities in Philly. There are plausible claims in WI, MI, NV, & GA that have been raised & cd ultimately be found legit by courts.

We'll see what shakes out. I have faith our court system is still strong enough to sort them out competently

Dem flippancy about GOP ballot count observers being substantially deprived of the ability to do their jobs is appalling.

Philly has flouted routine processes on this front every step of the way.

It's not okay. & yes, it absolutely matters.

VA
Interesting mini-thread, notes it's rare to see more than 3% down-ballot drop-off

VA-01 counts
544,460 votes cast in Prez race
436,789 votes on US Rep
107,671 voters "dropped off"
IOW 19.78% drop-off in VA-01

Curious. https://twitter.com/AutistLvsMatter/status/1324749018371661824?s=20
Most of the drop-off is on the Dem side of the ledger, too.

Ofc ticket-splitters exist, Trump is polarizing, folks who just vote for POTUS exist, etc. But numbers this massive look odd. https://twitter.com/AutistLvsMatter/status/1324751752957251586?s=20
VIRGINIA!

VA-01 in 2016
399,081 votes cast for Prez
384,601 votes cast for US Rep
14,480 voters "dropped off"
3.63% drop-off

2020: 19.78% drop off (107,671 votes)

Cursory check of statewide data in MI doesn't have anywhere near VA-01's level of drop-off. There's just a 2.1% drop-off statewide.

Might still look at a few select counties' results, but their system won't let me download county-level data rn

https://mielections.us/election/results/2020GEN_CENR.html
Looked at Prez vs all US House votes in Gwinnett, DeKalb & Fulton counties in GA - not seeing any crazy drop-off there, either
PA

Found a larger than normal (but not crazy like VA-01) voting drop-off in Philadelphia County: 5.48%

House: https://results.philadelphiavotes.com/ResultsSW.aspx?type=CON&map=CTY
Prez: https://results.philadelphiavotes.com/ResultsSW.aspx?type=FED&map=CTY
For contrast, Alleghany Co PA is only showing a 1.37% drop-off, but they have only tabulated in-person Election Day votes so far.

They still have ~3.87k military ballots & 17k provisional ballots to examine.
