Chair of @NCSBE: NC made an historic record — 74% voter turnout. @wcnc
“Our job is the get the count right.” @wcnc
Executive director of @NCSBE : they are still looking up number of provisional ballots out there. There are 117,000 absentee mail ballots out there. Now we sit and wait for them to come in. They will be counted if post marked by Election Day and received by Nov. 12th. @wcnc
They are looking into ballot track info to see if they can get the number of barcodes (on absentee ballots) scanned in @USPS system. This is in an effort to see how many of those 117,000 mail-in ballots are currently on their way to election centers. @wcnc
The 117,000 number could be voters who requested an absentee mail ballot, but then said, screw it, I’ll vote in person on Election Day.

@NCSBE has to complete the voter history process to compare who voted in-person on Election Day versus the ballots still out. @wcnc
Provisional ballot meeting will happen Nov. 12/13.

Exec. Director Karen Brinson Bell says w/ very few exceptions, North Carolina's results will *not* change until November 12 or 13. @wcnc
The voter history process is manually done by a lot of counties so this will take time, says Bell.

If ballots were postmarked yesterday, they likely won’t come in until 2 or 3 days, so the numbers will change slowly. @wcnc
117,000 number will be decreasing as the cross referencing process plays out. To be clear they are cross referencing who requested an absentee mail-in ballot, but may have voted in person on Election Day. @wcnc
A county by county break down of where those 117,000 absentee ballots were requested from will be made available. This could be crucial insight for some of these close races. @wcnc
