A reflection based on chatting with a friend this morning: I have work to do to better understand others outside my bubble. I must stop demonizing an entire group of people who think differently than I do as "idiots." Many people who voted differently than I did are good people.

They cast their vote for some reason. Perhaps I can't understand it, but I need to try. Dismissing people outright doesn't help me heal the divisions - and it's clear we have to heal. I don't know that I can do this work right now, but I need to try.

Having empathy and understanding while still calling out things that are clearly wrong, like racism and misogyny, will be a monumental challenge. But I've got to work on it. Thanks to my friend who shared many of these thoughts with me.
