part of the reason wwx is put on such a pedestal by some fans, to the point where they believe he can do no wrong, is probably bc of how the “wild, vivacious, and unapologetic” character is often romanticized in media, esp western media +
where there is a lot of themes abt rebellion and being “different”, and going against responsibility/obligations to follow your heart or something like that, so it’s easy to see why ppl would see these archetypes in wwx and think “he did nothing wrong!” +
but in fact, wwx’s story (before his first death) is more of a reminder that no matter how far you try to remove yourself from it, you are still part of society, it’s kind of a lesson on the contractualism philosophy +
in simpler terms: if you live in a society, you must apply yourself to the rules of right and wrong present in that society.
and by agreeing to live in said society, you are basically signing a contract in which you agree to follow said rules of right and wrong.

the “act” in question being demonic cultivation itself, which just goes directly against everything cultivators stand for.
ofc there are other things to consider, such as the false rumors and wwx’s good intentions and etc. +

at the end of the day wwx still acted in such a way that he breached this contractual agreement, and thus was judged guilty. +
basically what im saying is, people see wwx with this “he can do no wrong!” bias bc the whole “rebel and do what you want/follow what u believe in!” thing is often v romanticized while responsibilty/obligation is often portrayed negatively +
(examples i can think of being various romance and d*sney movies) +
but the world of mdzs isn’t a romanticized dream world at all, so wwx’s actions had consequences, and while he had good intentions and was painted in a worse light to scoiety at large than he deserved, he still made v bad decisions and acted detrimentally to himself.
yeah this is a mess of me rambling at like 2:30 in the morning im sorry kdjdj idek where i was going with this tbh
