I feel like there's a discussion to be had about how, in the fight against election disinformation, Facebook and Google also sold out the very news providers that could help with that problem.

All of our local news sites' search ads intended to help drive local readers to voter guides and results were rejected. In fact, even some of our non-election search ads were also stopped.

We couldn't get anything about the election promoted on FB either, due to similar policies.
I get why these policies exist - I support them, even - but if there's no exemption for news, where are the people searching for this information being directed?

And for platforms that claim to want to support local news, directing critical readership away during what should be a big traffic week ain't it.
