I feel like there's a discussion to be had about how, in the fight against election disinformation, Facebook and Google also sold out the very news providers that could help with that problem. ⬇️
All of our local news sites' search ads intended to help drive local readers to voter guides and results were rejected. In fact, even some of our non-election search ads were also stopped. ⬇️
We couldn't get anything about the election promoted on FB either, due to similar policies.

I get why these policies exist - I support them, even - but if there's no exemption for news, where are the people searching for this information being directed? ⬇️
And for platforms that claim to want to support local news, directing critical readership away during what should be a big traffic week ain't it.
