This won’t be a popular take, probably, but: if Biden wins, it will be an achievement. The campaign will have (barely) overcome the most sustained assault on voting rights in recent memory and the largest disinformation operation—conservative media—in American history.
Because of these massive constraints, I’m skeptical that either of my preferred candidates (Sanders, Warren) would’ve done any better.
I think people underappreciate the scope of conservative media. It’s not just fox. It’s talk radio, it’s Sinclair, it’s Facebook. It’s millions of thumbs on a single scale.
Well, it was a popular take. I don’t have a soundcloud.
The reason I tweeted this: in the weeks to come, people will inevitably interpret the election result in a manner that suits their political lean. (X wasn’t emphasized enough, Y was emphasized too much, etc.) I get it. But that myopia risks losing sight of the bigger picture.
