1/3 Trigger warning to my many liberal/Dem friends. You’re not going to like this tweet one bit. Dem party remains out of touch with huge parts of the population on some major cultural issues. Abortion & gun control are two of them. It’s not that rural Americans aren’t willing

2/3 to compromise on these. It’s that they don’t trust Dems.They believe Dems mean to have abortion on demand for any reason and to outlaw many very popular guns used safely by millions. And more than anything they feel the contempt of society’s “elites”. Y’all can dismiss them

3/3 as rubes if you wish, but their votes count equal and results like last night will continue. Dems have an economic platform that should appeal to such folks. But time after time it’s the “social issues” that prevent that message from getting through.
