There's a reason fascists hate communists and it has nothing to do with "authoritarianism." They're afraid of losing their property and the systems of capitalism and white supremacy that helped them get that property in the first place.
We need to kill the liberal delusion that fascism is just hatred for the sake of hatred or when the government controls things. Fascism is when a capitalist state resorts to open terrorism to defend itself from the people it exploits and oppresses.
That's why fascist regimes target communists, activists, unionists, and any community leaders not subservient to capital. Their goal is to dismantle any form of organization the people could use to oppose oppression.
This is a good point cause when fascists talk about going back to the good ol days they're talking about the days of enslavement & colonial expansion that gave birth to/sustained capitalism.
