I just woke up, waiting for my coffee. I don’t have words. I suppose I’m looking for someone to blame. I’m deeply saddened by the outcome so far. 1/
I don’t know what the end result will be. But, even a positive result is a Pyrrhic victory. The mere fact that it’s so close speaks volumes. 2/
I’m saddened that this country, once a place for those “yearning to breath free,” is now a country just like any other country living under a dictatorship. The difference, we have citizens yearning to willfully live under oppression. 3/
When forced to make a choice between compassion, equality, decency or the everything contrary to those tenets-they chose to go with the latter. 4/
As people are dying, suffering both physically and economically, many of our citizens placed themselves ahead of others, knowing they will face the very same end. But “religion”, but hatred, but money, but oppression and inequality won. 5/
I’ve questioned the existence of a higher power for a long time after seeing the things I’ve seen. I’ve tried to go back to my Catholic roots, now I’m certain I can’t go back. Religion is a prop used by those who could never live by the tenets set in the Bible. 6/
Like water, many have gone on the path of least resistance, it’s easier to do the wrong thing than to do the right thing and it shows. 7/
America will no longer be that standard. We are a country of selfish assholes-I suppose we’ve always been. 8/
I’m saddened that so many have sacrificed themselves for a country that doesn’t deserve that sacrifice. Those who died in the service of this nation, those “losers” and “suckers.” 9/
I’m saddened because I spent a lifetime believing that we were better. Yes, we still have bright stars and exemplary citizens, but that brightness, is dimming as we speak . 10/
I’m closer to the end than not. My wife and I will be okay. We will probably continue living our comfortable life. I worry about those we will leave behind. 11/
Sadly, I will never look at another citizen without suspicion. Those that I know supported him, even more so. I will always question their integrity, their humanity. I will be always be distrustful. 12/
No, this wasn’t about abortion, gun rights, the economy, regulations. It was about the soul of this nation and we’ve failed miserably. 13/
I needed some therapeutic writing and I overdid it. My apologies.
