Before the polls close, I want to give you all an update about what we’re expecting in each of our target states. A thread! #ElectionDay #FlipEverything
🌵Arizona🌵 Dems are only 2 seats away from flipping the House & 3 seats away from flipping the Senate! This is gearing up to be a historic victory, the first time Dems would control the Arizona legislature in half a century! Polling showed incredible momentum on our side.
💧Minnesota💧 The DFL flipped the House in 2018 & is now 2 seats away from controlling the Senate, creating a Dem trifecta! Minnesota is a battleground this year, but Dems have outspent the GOP, have a strong path to taking the Senate, & worked hard to hold our House majority.
🎡Iowa🎡 Dems are only 4 seats away from taking control of the state House. A super-competitive US Senate race has absolutely put this traditionally red state in play. Financially, Dems competed at the same level as the GOP, & we have a couple paths to the majority.
🚙Michigan🚙 Dems are only 4 seats away from taking control of the state House. Like in 2018, Dems will almost certainly receive the majority of the votes, but an extremely gerrymandered map means we had to turn out voters in overwhelming numbers.
🍫Pennsylvania🍫 Dems are 9 seats away from a House majority & 4 seats away from a Senate tie. PA is very gerrymandered, but we’re still fighting like hell to win. If we secure a tie in the Senate, the Dem LG would be the tie-breaker in close votes, handing us a de facto victory.
⭐️Texas⭐️ Dems are 9 seats away from flipping the House. There are 9 GOP-held House districts that Beto won in 2018. That is our path. While Texas is very gerrymandered, demographics shifted rapidly in the last decade, making some originally safe GOP districts more competitive.
✈️North Carolina✈️ Dems are only 6 seats away from flipping the House & 5 seats away from flipping the Senate. Like Texas, NC is very gerrymandered, particularly in the House, but has also experienced rapid population shifts. Great early voting numbers could mean we have a shot.
Follow along all night @DLCC for live election updates! We’ll be calling races and announcing chamber flips until every single vote is counted, no matter how many days it takes.
