Great to see so many people show they #LoveAlbertaParks the past day from all parts of the province. Yet the latest messaging from the UCP Caucus hides some things. Thread

Under this plan, Alberta parks without private partnerships will be removed from the parks system and will no longer be protected. If these ~175 parks are delisted, they become public lands that do not have the same conservation intent as parks. https://defendabparks.ca/why-defend-alberta-parks/
Coal mining, forestry, and oil and gas extraction take place on unprotected public lands. Removing parks’ designations strips them of their protections. https://y2y.net/blog/albertas-rockies-and-foothills-under-threat-of-mining/
Also, the majority of people really don't like these closures. Polling shows Albertans with a wide variety of political views and backgrounds do not support the closures. More on the poll: https://globalnews.ca/news/6904196/alberta-provincial-parks-partnerships-covid-19/
The solution isn't a PR campaign, it’s simple. People #LoveAlbertaParks, so create more and keep existing ones open. That applies for Alberta, other places in the Yellowstone-to-Yukon region, and beyond.
