1) There’s now an American myth structure built around voting. That it’s the be-all end-all of “rights”. Well, lots of countries vote; in fact, a majority do. There’s nothing uniquely American about it. The only way voting makes a difference is if it delivers RESULTS.

2) Voting for someone to warm a chair who isn’t the other guy delivers no results. Now, the American people have voted since 2008 for a universal health care system and not gotten it. So, yes, the right to vote was exercised but no tangible results were achieved.

3) The fact is, we need to move past this Americanized Patriotized “My Country” poppycock and realize that voting ITSELF is not the end-all but supposed to be the means to an end. And that is results that benefit the people. Not the economy. The people.
4) If we’re not careful, we’re going to end up allowing the government to define a narrative that voting alone is freedom. “Hey, you have your rights. You can vote. So shut up.” That’s what’s going down. They won’t have to do a damn thing except have elections.
5) So if Biden wins, and he probably will, unless we see results, all we’ve got is “He isn’t Trump.” That’s applaudable, but it isn’t enough. It’s like coming home with a D on your report card and saying, “Yes, but someone else got an F, so that was all I had to beat.”
6) Voting is a tool. That’s all it is. It’s not some magic act that confers good government. And it needs to be seen as a tool and not some type of secular Eucharist where the miracle of transubstantiation changes those votes into good government.
