I want to tell you a story. We were members of a synagogue in Bellevue WA & the rabbi there Jim Mirel - EVERYONE had a story about him. He showed UP for people. When my mom's husband died & I flew out to be with her, somehow he found out, tracked me down /1
2/ just to tell me he was thinking of us. ANYONE who was in the hospital - he showed UP. He sat with people. AND here's the thing - it wasn't that he had tons of words of wisdom. It was his presence. His empathy.
3/ It seems that this is what so many of the personal stories about Joe Biden are about. The hospital beds he sat by, the phone calls he made to those in pain, the fact that he has a heart & reaches out. A mensch. A human.
4/ And this is what has to be RESTORED in our country & I know that you all are fighting for: Empathy, showing up for each other, kindness, and presence. I believe in us, I really do. Because there are so many Rabbi Jim Mirels out there. Let's do this friends. /end
