Hi everyone - I'm mostly Off Here but popping back for important stuff, and this is one of them.
Last week's attack on abolitionist educators was a huge distraction - we need to get back to work. CARE and BEA are investigating how the government’s new PSHE guidance will affect anti-racist work in schools and we need your help.
We need to hear from educators who are concerned about the new guidance. Really, if you have any concern about how the new guidance might impact you, it's probably useful to us. The specific categories we need are:
💭 Teachers who have previously distributed materials or used resources, which you think may now be prohibited

💭 Community educators who would like to distribute their work in schools, but now feel unable to
💭 Teachers who think they may need to change what they teach because of the guidance

💭 School pupils, or parents of school pupils, who have benefited from classroom discussions or activities which you think might now be avoided under the guidance
Remember, the guidance prohibits 'anti-capitalist' materials, as well as materials produced by groups which promote 'victim narratives'. What does that even mean? Good question! If you're confused or doubtful, that's still useful to us
If this is you, we need you to contact our legal team [email protected] with as much detail as you can about the resource you would have distributed, what you would have used it for, what you think the benefit would have been.
Please approach any educators you know with this, and get them to pass it on! We know people are worried about this guidance. We know it's creating a climate of increased fear. We need a record of it.
