The basic process of my theological development over the years:
1) I read/study the Bible.
2) A question about something in the Bible arises in my mind.
3) I wonder (for a short time) if anyone has ever dealt with this question.

4) I am surprised to find out (w/in a couple of days, usually) that my question has been answered in depth many times over centuries of church history.
5) I realize a little better how ignorant and stupid I am.

6) I observe how others have answered my question & test their answers against Scripture.
7) I see that even my questions are ignorant & stupid; that countless others have asked far better questions than me about the issue over the years.

8) I keep reading & studying the Bible.
9) I keep asking questions about the Bible, though hopefully better ones over time.
