If your interest is in Central Texas (Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson) Counties, here's what you should know about them heading into tonight #tx2020 #austintexas (1/8)
The five county central Texas region made up just under 10% of the statewide vote in 2018, up from 8% in 2012. The region as a whole has gone from a 45K vote Democratic advatage (R-Votes - D-Votes) in 2012 to a 255K vote advantage in 2018 (2/8) #tx2020 #austintexas
Much of that growth has been in Travis County, home to Austin, which saw it's Democratic vote advantage grow from 92K votes to 240K votes between 2012 and 2018 (3/8) #tx2020 #austintexas
But the story of Democratic growth in Central Texas, as in other parts of the state, is more interesting in the outer counties, in particular, Williamson (to the north) and Hays (to the South). (4/8) #tx2020 #austintexas
Williamson County has seen a major increase in Democratic voters over the last three cycles from 62K in 2012, to 84K in 2016, to 105K in 2018, while Republican votes have remained flat (97K, 104K, 100K) over the same period. (5/8) #tx2020 #austintexas
