TOP 5 PLAYER TOPICS AHEAD OF GW8 (Thread)

The threads are back! 🥳

This series will take a look at 5 players that are hot in the FPL community currently ahead of the upcoming gameweek. If you want this series to continue every week, please leave some feedback! Lets go ⤵️
1. Jack Grealish (ÂŁ7.3)

After finishing with 2 assists, 1 goal and 15 points in GW7, Grealish is now completely bossing the underlying stats since GW2 among midfielders, being 3rd when it comes to big chances and key passes, 2nd in shots and shots in the box and 1st if you...
look at big chances created and xA.

Many want to know if players in the same price category like Zaha, Rodriguez and Ziyech are worth going with over him but when I look at his fixtures coming up, his underlying stats and Aston Villa's attacking form, there is no debate for...
me here. If you want the safe and consistent option, Grealish is the one right now. It should be said that it may not be the best gameweek to bring him in so if you plan on taking a hit to get him in this GW I would maybe reconsider. ARS (A) feels like a tough fixture having...
conceded the fewest goals in the league and has allowed very few shots and big chances over the last few games.
2. Kurt Zouma (ÂŁ5.2)

Already beating his season high goal scoring total with 3 goals, Zouma is not only the highest FPL point scoring defender but also the player with the most transfers in so far this gameweek. It’s very understandable with SHU (H) and NEW (A) coming up and...
currently having the lowest xGC (expected goals conceded) in the league by a good margin, that Chelsea defenders are in high demand.

I wouldn’t personally touch James even though he is the cheapest out of the defenders because of the rotation risk but I probably wouldn’t...
transfer him out right now either. When it comes to Zouma and Chilwell I have to admit that they are both brilliant options for now. Even though they have both overperformed quite massively, I don’t think there are many players in the league with the aerial presence of Zouma...
from what I have seen this season. Chilwell is the premium option but he has shown that he hasn’t needed any time to adjust to his new surroundings being top for key passes, crosses successful and corners taken among defenders since he started playing. I am tempted by both 🤷‍♂️
3. Jack Harrison (ÂŁ5.5)

Another assist and a big chance created from Harrison in GW7 who continues to impress. Despite missing GW4, playing against his parent club, Harrison tops the charts for chances created by a great margin since GW3. He is the main creator for a Leeds...
Leeds team that is currently one of the absolute best attacking teams in the league. It’s unfortunate that his goal threat has almost been non existent so far but his record in the Championship tells us that it will probably improve over the season. For 5.5 and 1.8% ownership...
you won't get much better value for the upcoming gameweeks in my opinion. I prefer him over any of the options in that price bracket including Ward-Prowse who currently has the 4th most transfers in ahead of GW8...
Here is how they compare for example since GW3 with Harrison playing one less game than JWP:

🟦 = Jack Harrison
🟥 = James Ward-Prowse
4. Danny Ings (ÂŁ8.5)

Mr. Consistent, Danny Ings has had a lot of injuries throughout his career but it doesn’t seem like he has suffered any serious damage to his knee following his injury in GW7 so I would probably wait for some more news. If he is out however people will...
be looking to replace him and there are definitely some viable options out there. Kane is the obvious one if you don’t have him already and have the money for him. Vardy or Werner are also great alternatives but Vardy is an interesting one because he is quite hard to judge...
because of all the penalties. However you can definitely tell that he thrives against high back lines like Man City, Arsenal and the latest example being against Leeds yesterday. This makes it so that WOL (H) in GW8 probably isn’t a good fixture for him meanwhile LIV (A) in...
GW9 feels like it suits him a lot better. Other than those premium options I would look to downgrade to a player like Wilson, Bamford, Watkins or Antonio if he is fit depending on what you prefer since they are all quite similar at the moment.
5. Aaron Cresswell (ÂŁ5.1)

Hot topic in the FPL Community is West Ham defenders. Especially Cresswell but also Coufal seems to be on a lot of peoples radar and rightly so. Despite having the worst fixture run in the league by far up to this point, West Ham has impressed...
defensively the 4th best xGC (expected goals conceded) in the league. Now they face FUL (H) and SHU (A) in their upcoming 2 games but even though there is a massive fixture swing and they have impressed so far I am still uncertain.

First of all my experience with West Ham's...
defence has never been good and their playstyle that has been to sit back and defend for 90 minutes now has to change which can definitely open up gaps in that defense that weren’t there before. Therefore I don’t think Cresswell is the greatest of picks even though he is the...
free kick taker and has the most key passes out of any defender so far because if you are spending over 5 million on a defender I think Bellerin and Zouma are better alternatives. They play for defences we have all seen can adjust well to their opposition. Coufal on...
the other hand is a different story for me just because you save that 0.6 and who knows, maybe West Ham surprises me and continue their great defensive stats and then you have a great budget defender in your squad. If it doesn't work out, you didn't spend a lot on him anyways.
Hopefully you enjoyed my first thread in a while. As I said before, please give me some feedback on what I can improve when it comes to this format and if you want me to keep this series up and become a weekly thing!

Thanks to all of you as always!❤️👏
