We had a Teachmeet after school (remember those!?) Socially-distanced (of course!), sharing the main gaps we are finding in learning and what year groups are doing about it. There were some amazing ideas - here's a brief summary.
YR are working hard on gross and fine motor skills - they have started using the amazing Dough Disco resources from @twinklresources 3 x week. Every child has a named pot of play doh. I was invited down to see it today & they were doing these activities: https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-t-2544925-get-your-playdough-song-powerpoint
Y1 are focusing on upper/lower case letters. Teachers have made snap/pairs cards which children are using to identify the upper/lower case letters.
Y2's main area is the alternate sounds. They are using the Sound Families resources from @twinklresources to help children become aware of the different sounds, and have linked this to PSHE where they look at family make up. The chn use them in writing too https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-l-5283-sound-families-with-pictures
Y3 are looking at word classes and using awareness of these to edit work. They did AtoZ of nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. I love that they then made a little window for each child to use when editing writing - this helps chn look at each individual word for improvements.
Y4 are focusing on specific grammar terminology. They have looked at compound/complex sentences and the different between the two by looking at coordinating and subordinating conjunctions: identifying them in given and their own sentences using different colours.
Y5 are looking at mental maths: multiplication/number bonds and complements. They have been using this incredible resource from TopMarks which allows you to choose your level (year group), area and specific numbers. I'm going to use it tomorrow with Y6! https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10
Y6 are looking at the language around multiplication. They give chn a number (register order?) and then say stand up if you are...multiple/factor/LCM/HCF of X/Y. Can also be drip fed throughout the day and used in PE to choose chn (all the multiples of 7, LCM of 7 and 2).
