A little clarity on Trevor Lawrence’s situation...

There are two issues at play: Is he contagious and is he healthy enough to practice & play. There is a set protocol for the first part, but the 2nd part varies a lot (as we saw with Xavier Thomas).

(1/6)
Part 1: Is he contagious?

Most COVID-19 patients are no longer contagious after a few days but CDC guidelines for isolation is 10. ACC follows that guideline. That ends Friday.

(2/6)
Per CDC, 88% are estimated to no longer be "replication-competent" for the virus after 10 days, though another study showed 0 transmission after 21 days, which leads to the B1G's timeline.

Part 2: Is he healthy?

Dabo says Trevor feels good but a.) he needs to show he is symptom free before he is allowed to return and b.) he must pass a three-pronged battery of cardiac testing (EKG, electrocardiogram & a blood test) that can take 2-3 days to complete.

(4/6)
Moreover, there is a general re-acclimation process that players returning from iso/quarantine go through. This can be anywhere from 2 days to a week. One ACC coach said they essentially plan for 17 days total for an asymptomatic positive.

(5/6)
So, yes, Trevor can travel to the game without fear of spreading the virus, but no, he will not have been confirmed to be healthy enough to return to play by Saturday, though he is expected to practice next week if all goes well.
