Here are the ballot measures I’m watching today:
1) CA Prop 22: Uber, Lyft & co. have poured $200+ million into a fight to keep classifying their drivers as contractors. It offers a set wage for time spent driving passengers – not waiting for jobs – and some $ for health care.
2) The Massachusetts “Right to Repair” measure would decide whether car owners and independent mechanics can access the same wireless vehicle maintenance and repair data dealers get. I wrote about this in June.

3) Austin has been trying to build an urban rail system since 2000. Could the third time be the charm? The $7 billion measure on the ballot today would increase property taxes to build the city’s first light rail lines, new rapid bus routes and affordable housing.
4) Portland, Ore. set out to bring equity into their transportation planning and came up with a $5 billion ballot measure to expand light rail, fund free youth transit passes, etc. Nike has spent $400K to defeat it because it would be funded with a 0.75 percent payroll tax.
5) Measure RR in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties in California would provide the first dedicated source of funding for Caltrain. It requires a two-thirds vote to pass.
