Do you know why I think you CAN compare Ole’s first 100 games to Klopp’s? Not comparing them as managers - as tenures .... both requires patience. Key difference is Klopp got who he wanted to improve things and play the way he wanted or have I missed the Sancho, Haland arrivals?
Supporters beg for consistency from United on the pitch - fair enough, that’s Ole’s job and ultimately what he’ll be judged on. But all I hear is how he doesn’t have tactics - false or a vision - also false. He’s being hindered like every single manager before him.
All I hear is about how Mourinho was let down in his last summer transfer window - true. But where’s the same energy for Ole when he isn’t getting the first choice players he wants to play the way he wants? Or, is it because he doesn’t moan abt it and just gets on with it?
Then you’ll have supporters saying ‘well, Ole should complain’ about board not meeting his targets. Ok, but what happens then? You get same situation as with Jose where players just downed tools - wrong yes, but they did. That’s the toxic mess Ole had to address and did address.
Ole will be judged on results. Fine. We’ve lost once in the last five games - is that sackable right now? Personally don’t think so. If he loses tomorrow night and again v Everton then he has a problem and facing into international break logical to presume Ed will wield the axe.
Trouble I have with those that advocate so heavily for Ole to be go is I wonder how that changes things? We start again w/Poch and say he needs at least a yr for his vision to be implemented. Well, what’s wrong with the vision we have? Poch is still going to meet the same board.
In my humble opinion Ole’s conducted himself extraordinarily well despite meeting same frustrations a champions league/premier league winning manager did. He’s improved squad, improved individuals. People scoff at cup s/f’s but they should point to progress not take away from it.
I have no control over whether Ole stays, if board make decision to sack him, we all just get on with it and back next guy. But guarantee he’s going to meet the same lack of ambition and mediocrity accepting board Ole has. Difference is - he’ll meet a better squad than Ole did.
My opinion on the manager is perhaps more rounded than I portray on here. A realist but with patience best describes it. I suspect I come across as a stanch Ole supporter but it’s only because I meet a lot of false narratives I feel need to be addressed with a defence.
Ole has faults. You might be surprised to learn all managers do. My patience extends from fact I can see the problems at Manchester United erode much deeper than the guy on the touchline.
