Controversial statement for today—we feel it’s misguided to get upset at DSA leaders for embracing the progressive prosecutor movement when so many activists are reluctant to take a firm stance against the nonprofit sector.
You can’t express disgust with the progressive prosecutor movement one day only to solicit donations for Linda Sarsour’s nonprofit the next.
The nonprofit sector is not afraid of radical grassroots organizers. We know ppl may not love reading that but we really do believe that radicals are still not doing enough to confront the nonprofits that regularly impede progress. Of course, it should be noted this is easier
said than done. The nonprofit sector is incredibly powerful, has tons of resources and can make activists’ lives a living hell. But it is becoming clear to more activists that this problem isn’t just going to go away.
